Price of Progress: Pro Tour Chicago And Beyond

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated – and I suspect that it is largely my own fault. I certainly seem to have a knack for staying qualified for the Pro Tour, but what’s the point of competing in these events if I don’t have a real shot?

Price Of Progress: Gratitude

I want to thank everyone who voted for me for the Invitational; I was absolutely stunned to receive a spot this year. I’ll be heading off to Seattle for the Invitational in about a week – and not only do I need to figure out how to play Two-Headed Giant, but I need a card to submit. If you read this and you have any ideas about what card I should submit for the Invitational, please send me an email.

Price of Progress: Pro Tour – Osaka Report

The randomness, the sheer absurdity of this event going on, out of sight, with only a few observers… It seemed like those lucky enough to be passing by at just the right time were being given a gift. At least, that’s what it felt like to me.

Price of Progress: ReanimaTINGS

With Entomb in mind, I thought about the best way to use it in Standard – which, of course, was beatdown.

Price of Progress: Pro Tour – New Orleans Report

It’s the finals. Kai Budde from Germany is up against Tomi Wallamies from Finland. I’m not enthralled by the games.

Price of Progress: Grand Prix Denver and the Road to New Orleans

And the King of Qualifiers talks about his 8th place – whoops, 9th place, and isn’t THAT totally unfair? – finish, and how he came to play the deck he went with.

Price of Progress: Worlds, PTQs, And Other Stuff

David discusses his experience at Worlds and the state of internet articles today. Oh, and although he won’t say it, we will: VOTE FOR THE KING OF BEATDOWN IN THE INVITATIONAL!

Price of Progress: 2001 US Nationals *Top 8 *

First he got judged out of the Top 8 at Nationals. Then he got judged back in. Either way, The King Of Beatdown’s coming back!

Price of Progress: Pro Tour – Barcelona Report

I didn’t win, sure, but I drafted and played better than I have in years and I feel good about the upcoming tournaments.

Price of Progress – GP: Amsterdam Report

In which David finally shakes off the streak he’s been on to make #5 in a foreign land! HURRAH!

Price of Progress: Grand Prix – New Orleans Report

Is it all worth it? I really can’t say, at this point. I do it because I love Magic and I’m not quite sure what I’d do without it.

Price of Progress: Chicago Report

Chicago was the next stop on my marathon of Magic events. I’d been to three different countries in the previous weeks, traveling to Sydney, Australia, Florence, Italy, and Dallas, TX in search of that elusive win. I was in search of Pro Tour points and prize money, of course, but mostly I was after the…

Price of Progress: Invitational Wrap-up And GP-Florence Report

It has been a while since my last article. Frankly, between Grand Prix – Dallas, the Magic Invitational in Sydney, Australia, and Grand Prix – Florence this past weekend, I’ve been plenty busy. Not only have I been to three continents in the past three weeks to play Magic, but somewhere along the way I…

Price of Progress: The Magic Invitational Preview

In a week, I’ll be hopping on a plane to Sydney, Australia to compete in the Magic: the Gathering Invitational, thanks largely to the votes from the readers of StarCityCCG.com. (You GO, girl! – ) Most of you probably know what the Invitational is all about, but in case you haven’t, here’s the general idea….

Price of Progress: Invasion!

I had originally intended to write a report about Pro Tour – New York and the Masters Gateway tournament that preceded it. I tried and tried, but I couldn’t seem to find the words to make an interesting tale out of going 3-3 in the Team Sealed part of Pro Tour – New York with…
