Welcome back to the Daily Shot, where no good deed goes unpunished. By the time you read this, I’ll have just finished up a weekend of turkey-eating and so on, what with it being Thanksgiving up here in Canada.
Oh, did I mention that I won a PTQ in Detroit on Saturday? I’m going to see you all in Chicago!
YYYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS! My first Pro Tour! Readers, gimme a high five!
*slap*
Told you I’d get there, by hook or by crook. Come January, I’m going to be slinging spells with the big boys – and I’m going to do my damndest to bring you all along for the ride. No detail will go unreported.

If you actually want to see the TDS dance, just ask me – I’ll be glad to show you.
This is going to be a short, short column, because I’m tired as hell from the PTQ (won just two hours ago as I write this, weary and haggard in the late stretches of the PM), but I wanted to get something in to the Ferrett for Tuesday, just so you don’t think I’m slacking off. I’ve got a ton of writing projects on the go!
Here is what you can expect from me over the course of the next two weeks:
“Mulligans & Manascrew“…an issues and opinions piece. This will not be a strategy article about how to avoid such things; I’m going to try something different, like….
- How should you act when it happens to you?
- To an opponent?
- Would the game be better if the resources were more stable?
- What would Magic be like without land?
An as-yet-nameless rant on the nature of perfect play
–My Onslaught Red Review, which will be delivered in two parts. Still trying to pump out the most readable set review possible. Keep me company while we check this new territory out together.
–My PTQ *T1* report, which will be delivered in 3-4 parts. I’ll cover deck construction, the seven rounds of Swiss, and the T8 Rochester draft. I did not lose a game with my draft deck. What did I draft? You guessed it – W/R fast beats. The more I try it, the more I become convinced that it’s the way to go in Onslaught limited.
Anyhow, I’m off to bed. I’ll be back tomorrow with something – I’m just not sure what. So much writing to do, so little time. Whatever it turns out to be, it’ll be just as close as the next page.
See you then.
