Daily Digest: Breaking Out

GerryT digs up one from last year that still packs lots of artifact punch! See the latest pile of trinkets and toys you could take to a victory at #SCGIndy’s $5,000 Premier IQ!

I probably should have featured this one a while ago considering it’s almost a year old, but it’s still a good one!

Modern has had its fair share of Polymorph and Proteus Staff decks, trying to cheat Emrakul, the Aeons Torn onto the battlefield by destroying their own
creature-lands or tokens, but this deck has another way to make creatures — Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas!

The Proteus Staff shell already has a wide variety of artifacts to take advantage of Thirst for Knowledge, so why not play Tezzeret as well? Instead of
relying on drawing your Proteus Staff, we have another possible route to take to victory. Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas might be the most powerful underplayed
card in Modern.

I kind of love any deck that gets to play maindeck Relic of Progenitus since with Snapcaster Mage and Tarmogoyf tearing up the format, having some way to
make those cards weaker is a huge bonus. There aren’t many decks that don’t use the graveyard in some way, so many decks don’t get to play it, but this
deck does!

Other than that, nothing too spicy is going on except for the maindeck Pithing Needles. Being able to stop Liliana of the Veil from killing Emrakul is
important, even if it stops your own Liliana. The rest of the deck is removal and some discard to force through your combo.
