Nah, you probably didn’t – the fact that our front page now takes less than twenty seconds to load isn’t generally considered a triumph. But our database servers are finally going full-speed, and heck if the front page doesn’t load in .88 seconds by my watch!*
Yee and haw.
The other thing is that I’ve made some fairly heavy changes to the site in the meantime – some visible, some not. Some are behind-the-scenes cleanup changes that should make the site run even faster; some are glitzy, lovely things like the automated”Ask The Virtual Judge” program, with almost half a megabyte’s worth of rulings and questions at your fingertips.
Also, let’s not forget that we still have our $50 in StarCity giveaway contest – sadly, we don’t have the giant cash reserves that some sites have, but on the other hand all the articles we post on our site are eligible for the big prize. (We like our forum for feedback, thankyouvery much.)
And speaking of feedback, I want it. I’m trying to make this site accessible to the tourney pro as well as the multiplayer fan, and I won’t stop until I get it. Based on the continual outcries we’ve been hearing, with God’s able help (and a bit of tech support) we’ll be switching forum software to what you’ve all been clamoring for. We also have some major, major redesigns coming up over the summer.
(Also, you’ll find two articles from me popping up over the next two weeks. Hey, I hear that occasionally people miss me, like, writing and stuff.)
