Damnation And Thoughtseize Make Triumphant Return In Time Spiral Remastered

Some of the strongest black cards ever made come back, including a timeshifted version of Thoughtseize.

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Daily MTG, take a look at three black Time Spiral Remastered reprints that all saw heavy play in Standard, including a timeshifted version of one of the strongest cards ever printed — Thoughtseize!

Thoughtseize has been a format defining card in almost every format since its debut printing in Lorwyn. The discard spell came back in Theros with new art and raised the bar for what a hand disruption spell can be from Faeries to Mono-Black Devotion over the years. The original art by Aleksi Briclot is back but now with a timeshifted frame, truly hammering home the timelessness of the incredibly powerful spell.

Damnation stunned Magic players when it was previewed for Planar Chaos and has been the best mass removal spell for black since its printing. The color-shifted Wrath of God was one of the main reasons Mystical Teachings dominated Time Spiral Block Constructed and Standard at the time. The Kev Walker art is a twist on his own art from Wrath of God and returns for another printing, this time as a mythic rare.

Tendrils of Corruption was a key removal spell thanks to it being in a format alongside Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. At four mana, it was always efficient and could scale to kill the largest creatures all while gaining a ton of life in the process.
