WotC Suspends In-Store Play For MTG And D&D

WotC has announced all MTG and D&D in-store events have been suspended through May 10.

In an on-going effort to combat the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has announced that all in-store play of Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons is suspended through May 10.

Effective beginning Tuesday, March 24, the suspension will cancel all existing events held at WPN stores in the North American, European, and Latin American regions. This includes all Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths events, “except for At-Home Prerelease”

WotC is aware of the impact this restriction will have on smaller game stores, and as a direct result, have announced that WPN stores can now use Promo Packs as a sales incentive and are able to ship Buy-a-Box promotions throughout the Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths season.

Players and organizers are strongly recommend to “take measures to stay connected and set up remote play opportunities” and WotC has “partnered with Discord to create a template that stores can use to create a community hub”.
