Online MTG Tournament Raises $13,000 For Charity

An independent online MTG tournament raised $13,000 for charity!

With all large paper Magic events canceled for the foreseeable future, players made the swap to digital for the inaugural MTG 4 Charity tournament, hosted by MTG Melee.

Held on Magic Online, the Pioneer tournament featured sixteen of Magic’s most recognizable personalities, including MPL members Brad Nelson, Martin Juza, Chris Kvartek , and Gabriel Nassif, as well as SCG Tour mainstays Ross Merriam, Alison Warfield, and Aaron Barich.

After battling through an incredibly stacked field, Giana “Bloody” Kaplan (Mono-Black Vampires) defeated Brad Nelson (Dimir Inverter) 2-1 in the finals, making her the MTG 4 Charity Champion.

In addition to providing great entertainment and high-level Magic gameplay, the tournament also raised a whopping $13,000 for Direct Relief to help combat COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Today we raised almost $13,000 for COVID-19 via DirectRelief and WeAreTiltify. This community is so … amazing and I’m so proud to be a part of it. Y’all are the best.
