Patrick Stewart, the legendary actor known for his roles in Star Trek and X-Men, died Wednesday night following a brief bout with Alzheimer’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.
Stewart was most famously known for his character Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation, a role he returned as in movies and spin-offs — the most recent being the Star Trek: Picard series that ran from 2020 to 2023.

Magic: The Gathering fans have recently got to know the British actor, who got his start working for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1966, in multiple cards from the upcoming Universes Beyond release, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek.
Stewart is the second Star Trek actor to pass away this week. Walter Koenig, who played Pavel Chekov on the original Star Trek series, died on Sunday at the age of 90. Stewart was 86.
Stewart’s family announced his passing on social media, requesting in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the John’s Hopkins Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Fund and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Caregiver Resources.
