White Gets Two More Monarch Cards In Commander Legends

New mythic rare Archon and part of enchantment cycle reward staying the monarch.

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Iyingdi.com, check out a white mythic rare and rare that focus on the monarch mechanic from Commander Legends. First up is the six-drop, mythic rare — Archon of Coronation!

Flying

When Archon of Coronation enters the battlefield, you become the monarch.

As long as you’re the monarch, damage doesn’t cause you to lose life.

This Archon gives you the monarch like many cards from Commander Legends and provides a huge flying body to take it back if you happen to lose it. On top of that, it protects your life total from damage making it a must-remove threat for most decks. While your opponent can take the monarch from you, the damage won’t reduce your life total.

Next up is a white rare in the cycle of enchantments that grant you the monarch. Take a look at Court of Grace!

When Court of Grace enters the battlefield, you become the monarch.

At the beginning of your upkeep, create a 1/1 white Spirit creature token with flying. If you’re the monarch, create a 4/4 white Angel creature token with flying instead.

Similar to the blue and black courts previewed so far, Court of Grace gives you the monarch then generates value each turn, scaling on whether you still have the monarch at the start of each turn. While Court of Cunning mills players and Court of Ambition drains or forces players to discard cards, Court of Grace makes tokens with a much higher reward if you stay the monarch. Flying 1/1 Spirits will help you take the monarch back, but 4/4 flying Angels will usually dominate a battlefield.

What do you think of the new additions to monarch-centric cards? Will Court of Cunning make the cut with the amount of competition white has monarch cards?
