Third Time’s The Charm For Radha, Heart Of Keld

Third version of Radha is here and better than ever.

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Crokeyz, check out the latest version of a legendary Gruul creature from Core Set 2021 — Radha, Heart of Keld.

After versions in Planar Chaos and Dominaria, Radha is back at three mana after previous versions at two and four mana. A 3/3 with three abilities, let’s check out this legendary Elf Warrior.

As long as it’s your turn, Radha, Heart of Keld has first strike.

Magic has worked with this variation of first strike recently on cards like Pouncing Lynx, Ahn-Crop Invader, and Fresh-Faced Recruit. By giving it to creatures on your turn or when attacking, it rewards the creature when it gets into combat instead of brick-walling opposing creatures, especially in Limited. This is the first time Radha has had any kind of first strike as previous cards has haste and the ability to make mana.

You may look at the top card of your library any time, and you may play lands from the top of your library.

Similar to Courser of Kruphix, but you don’t have to play with your library revealed (which will hopefully lead to fewer game rules violations), but also give you the advantage of finding more lands without giving away the information of your draw steps. Both versions of Radha before this one had ways to generate mana, but Heart of Keld actually nets you cards and digs you deeper to action.

4RG: Radha gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of lands you control.

And here’s the payoff for finding all those extra lands. For six mana, you get to pump up the jam and have a massive, first-striking Radha on offense. With her suite of abilities, Radha, Heart of Keld can slot into Gruul Aggro or possibility help form a Gruul ramp deck in Standard. Perhaps this third iteration will give her what she needs to thrive in Standard.
