Stalder earned an invite to the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Championship and $1,500 by winning the 156-person event by only dropping a single match in the Swiss. Stalder, a Mono-Green Aggro❄ enthusiast known for streaming his race to Rank #1 on the MTG Arena ladder each month with his favorite deck, was one of only four players in the event playing Mono-Green Aggro❄ and was the lone player on the archetype in the elimination rounds.

Stalder’s path to the crown involved wins over Hironori Tanaka on Sultai Ramp (Yorion), Noriyuki Mori on Izzet Control, and Yajima on Naya Winota in the finals. Yajima’s runner-up finish showed off the newest version of Winota, which gained a ton of popularity this week. Mori’s Izzet Control deck was a unique take on control, opting for no snow cards or companion.

Naya Winota was the most played deck by a large margin, clocking in at 42 copies which was more than 25% of the field. Dimir Rogues (Lurrus) was up next at 21 copies, followed by Gruul Adventures at 19, and Sultai Ramp (Yorion) at 18.
