White Gets New Perpetual Planeswalker In Teyo, Aegis Adept In MTG Jumpstart: Historic Horizons

Teyo returns in a big way in Jumpstart: Historic Horizons

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Andrea Del Moro, take a look at the return of a planeswalker we haven’t seen since War of the Spark — Teyo, Aegis Adept!

[+1]: Up to one target creature’s base power perpetually becomes equal to its toughness. It perpetually gains “This creature can attack as though it didn’t have defender.”

[-2]: Conjure a Lumbering Lightshield card onto the battlefield.

[-6]: You get an emblem with “At the beginning of your end step, return target white creature from your graveyard to the battlefield. You gain life equal to its toughness.”

A four-mana planeswalker, Teyo starts with four loyalty and can work his way up to a [-6] ultimate ability in just two turns. His [+1] can be used proactively to turn your creatures with high toughness and low attack into reliable attackers, or used defensively to shrink opponent’s high-powered creatures.

Activating Teyo’s [-2] ability conjures you a Lumbering Lightshield, which is insane value and it will likely become the go-to ability used almost every time Teyo is first cast.

Should you work your way up to Teyo’s ultimate, you’ll be in a prime spot to win the game, so long as you have white creatures in your graveyard to fuel the reanimation chain.

So what do you think of Teyo, Aegis Adept? Will this become a staple in midrange white decks in Historic? Let us know what you think in the comments!

Jumpstart: Historic Horizons is scheduled to release on MTG Arena on August 12.
