Sorin the Mirthless Revealed As MTG Innistrad: Crimson Vow’s First Planeswalker

The first planeswalker from Innistrad: Crimson Vow has been unveiled!

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) take a look at the first planeswalker to be revealed from Innistrad: Crimson Vow — Sorin the Mirthless!

[+1]: Look at the top card of your library. You may reveal that card and put it into your hand. If you do, you lose life equal to its mana value.

[-2]: Create a 2/3 black Vampire creature token with flying and lifelink.

[-7]: Sorin the Mirthless deals 13 damage to any target. You gain 13 life.

For four mana, Sorin the Mirthless starts with four loyalty and the option to use either his +1 ability, allowing you to gain card advantage in exchange for life, or -2 to create a 2/3 black Vampire with flying and lifelink.

Having access to both protection and card advantage already puts Sorin in contention for being a strong, mid-game planeswalker, but his -7 ability being able to deal 13 damage to any target and gain life makes him a dangerous threat if left unanswered as well.

In addition to his normal art and frame, Sorin the Mirthless will also be available in four (yes, four) alternate art variants, all of which you can view below.

So what do you think of Sorin the Mirthless? Will this be Standard’s next powerful planeswalker? Let us know what you think in the comments.
