Rakdos Gets Berserker Saga In The Bloodsky Massacre In Kaldheim

Rare saga keeps the Berserker party going for three mana.

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Miguel Simoes, take a look at a pair of Rakdos cards from Kaldheim, including a rare saga — The Bloodsky Massacre!

The Bloodsky Massacre plays along with the tribal synergies of Rakdos in the set, encouraging you to play with Berserkers and staying aggressive. Let’s break down the chapters.

Create a 2/3 red Demon Berserker creature token with menace.

For three mana you start off with a 2/3 Berserker token with menace, which doesn’t really feel like a great deal. But the second chapter pays you off when you get to combat with that token and other Berserkers.

Whenever a Berserker attacks this turn, you draw a card and you lose 1 life.

The Bloodsky Massacre returns on your investment in the second chapter, getting you as many cards as you have Berserkers to send into combat. For a few points of life, refill your hand to keep up the pressure.

Add R for each Berserker you control. Until end of turn, you don’t lose this mana as steps and phases end.

The third chapter lets you empty your hand after drawing extra cards. With the mana not leaving between phases you can play extra spells before combat to clear the way for attackers and deploy extra creatures after combat.

Simoes also previewed the Rakdos utility uncommon land. Check out Immersturm Skullcairn.

It enters the battlefield tapped and makes black mana, but also has a now recurring thematic ability for Rakdos: dealing three damage and making a player discard a card. Immersturm Skullcairn will pair well with any current Rakdos deck in Standard, whether it’s aggressive or more midrange to leverage Kroxa, Titan of Death’s Hunger.

What do you think of The Bloodsky Massacre? Is it enough to go all-in on Berserkers or more of a role player?
