Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Olivia Gobert-Hicks, take a look at this new legendary artifact from Innistrad: Midnight Hunt — The Celestus!
If it’s neither day nor night, it becomes day as The Celestus enters the battlefield.
T: Add one mana of any color.
As we’ve seen with several cards previewed so far, controlling the day and night cycle is a key part of Midnight Hunt. In addition to tapping for a mana of any color, The Celestus also makes it day upon entering the battlefield if it’s not already day or night.
3, T: If it’s night, it becomes day. Otherwise, it becomes night. Activate only as a sorcery.
Whenever day becomes night or night becomes day, you gain one life. You may draw a card. If you do, discard a card.
For a small three-mana investment, you not only change it to day or night, but also gain life and loot. With all the day and night synergies packed into Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, it seems likely that this card could become a strong enabler for midrange or control decks in the new Standard.
So what do you think of The Celestus? Will this new mana rock be a hit in multiple formats? Let us know what you think in the comments!
Innistrad: Midnight Hunt is currently scheduled for release on September 24. View our official preview gallery.
