No Bans In Latest MTG Commander Rules Committee Update

Hot-button cards get a pass in quarterly announcement.

The Commander Rules Committee posted its February announcement today with no bans or rules changes to implement.

The post mentions that while there are a few cards that continue to be topics of controversy on social media (Dockside Extortionist, Thassa’s Oracle, and Tergrid, God of Fright), the RC states that none of them have reached problematic levels of play. Play groups and players can govern themselves and draw lines if needed, but format-wide action is unwarranted at this point.

Other updates in the announcement include new FAQ entries, particularly clarifying the difference between Rule Zero and the social contract of the format. Lastly, the RC adjusting how it interacts with Commander Advisory Group members. The process will include meetings with smaller groups before quarterly announcements.
