Maxwell became the first two-time Hoogland Open champion, using Gruul Aggro once again in Historic to claim the crown. The Hooglandia Open was one of the first large Historic tournaments following the release of Strixhaven and the format-warping Mystical Archive cards. The tournament had 115 entrants and was double elimination. Maxwell finished 10-1 overall, defeating Dbeard115 on Orzhov Humans in the finals.
Maxwell’s Gruul list didn’t utilize any new cards, but Dbeard115’s Orzhov Humans list did with Elite Spellbinder, Silverquill Command, and Selfless Glyphweaver.
