Magic Pro Shop Sells “Exclusive” Promo Card Bundle

Once a Local Game Store exclusive, the Crucible of Worlds World Championship promo card is now available for purchase.

Last week, Wizards of the Coast (WotC), announced that select WPN Premium locations would be receiving Crucible of Worlds promotional cards.

Players could only earn these exclusive promotional cards by participating in a Standard Constructed tournament, held during World Championship XXVI viewing parties.

Today, the MTG Pro Shop launched several World Championship packages that include the previously “exclusive” Crucible of Worlds promotional card, as well as a commemorative Worlds 2020 playmat and participant jersey.

Both MTG fans and prominent community members have since taken to social media, criticizing WotC’s decision to take away the card’s exclusivity from WPN Premium locations.

WotC has recently come under fire for putting paper Magic (and Local Game Stores by extension) on the back burner, with fans citing a recent MTG Arena advertisement that said “No Table Needed” as an example, and taking away the promotional card’s exclusivity seems to add further support to this notion.

The World Championship bundle is currently retailing for $100 in the Magic Pro Shop, along with the competitor jersey ($60) and playmat ($40).
