Announced in their 2019 Annual Report, Hasbro, the parent company of Wizards of the Coast (WotC), revealed that Magic: The Gathering revenue increased by 30% from 2018 to 2019.
Revenues increased more than 30% in the year, behind double-digit growth in tabletop revenues and a strong first year for Magic: The Gathering Arena…
Hasbro also states that they intend to invest between $200 – $300 million into “multiple titles and platforms to create unparalleled gaming experiences with superior operating margins”, and appears Magic and Dungeons & Dragons are a part of that distinction.
As COVID-19 (Coronavirus) continues to negatively impact the tabletop gaming industry, these numbers are especially important, as they show proof that Magic is thriving outside of a global pandemic, and is likely to bounce back quickly.
