Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC), take a look at the newest Golgari legendary from Kaldheim — Sarulf, Realm Eater!
Whenever a permanent an opponent controls is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on Sarulf, Realm Eater.
Starting as a three mana 3/3, Sarulf has the opportunity to get big quickly if unanswered. It punishes opponent’s for using fetchlands, for sacrificing creatures, adds insult to injury whenever you destroy their permanents, and more!
At the beginning of your upkeep, if Sarulf has one or more +1/+1 counters on it, you may remove all of them. If you do, exile each other nonland permanent with converted mana cost less than or equal to the number of counters removed this way.
Acting as a pseudo-Ratchet Bomb, this ability allows Sarulf to stockpile counters until the time is right to exile a ton of nonland permanents. It can also brickwall most aggressive decks, since removing one or two counters against them can effectively wipe their battlefield. It also forces opponents to not overcommit permanents to their battlefield, something that many decks rely on.
Kaldheim is currently scheduled to release on February 5.
