Burchett Crushes Competition, Goes 6-0 On First Day Of Grand Finals

Check out the best decks, moments, and standings from Day 1 of the MTG Grand Finals!

With Day 1 of the 2020 Magic: The Gathering Grand Finals in the books, Mythic Champion Autumn Burchett sits alone atop the leaderboard as the sole undefeated player, going 6-0 with Gruul Adventures in Zendikar Rising Standard and Four-Color Ramp in Historic.

Despite 70% of the Zendikar Rising Standard decks for this event containing Omnath, Locus of Creation, testing partners Autumn Burchett, Emma Handy, and Luis Salvatto managed to put up an impressive 8-1 combined record with Gruul Adventures.

In second place with a record of 5-1, Magic Hall of Famer, Seth Manfield, also found success in Zendikar Rising Standard with a deck designed to beat Omnath — Dimir Rogues.

In a fun twist of fate, Manfield also registered Jund Sacrifice for Historic — a deck which he defeated in the finals of the 2020 Mythic Invitational last month.

Rounding out the Top 3 players from Day 1, Grand Prix Dallas Champion, Austin Bursavich, opted to hop aboard the Omnath train rather than trying to stop it, playing both Four-Color Adventures in Zendikar Rising Standard and Four-Color Ramp in Historic.

Coverage of Day 2 of the 2020 Magic Grand Finals will resume tomorrow, October 10, at 12 PM ET (9 AM PT) on twitch.tv/Magic.
