Stat-wise, Thieving Skydiver is pretty average for a two-mana creature with flying. A 2/1 flyer is a nice curve filler if you’re wanting to get aggressive, but the kicker ability helps give this Merfolk Rogue more utility as the game goes on.
When Thieving Skydiver enters the battlefield, if it was kicked, gain control of target artifact with converted mana cost X or less. If that artifact is an Equipment, attach it to Thieving Skydiver.
While X sadly cannot be 0 here, the “or less” clause is a nice inclusion – allowing Thieving Skydiver to be kicked for 1 and still steal powerful, zero-mana artifacts such as Stonecoil Serpent, Hangarback Walker, and Mox Amber.
As the game goes on, Thieving Skydiver has the potential to steal larger artifacts as well, with notable inclusions being Bolas’s Citadel, The Great Henge, Embercleave, God-Pharaoh’s Gift, and more.
