Barbarian Class is an Enchantment — Class that looks like a combination of Sagas and level up cards from Magic’s past. While the official rules of the mechanic haven’t been previewed yet, Classes look like enchantments you play that grant the first level’s ability and then can level up to grant extra effects. Classes are not tracked with counters so abilities like proliferate will not advance the Class and Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider will not shut it down. The art and layout are also opposite of Sagas with the rules text on the right and art on the left.
Let’s dive into Barbarian Class!
If you would roll one or more dice, instead roll that many dice plus one and ignore the lowest roll.
You start on Level 1 and get the additional roll to dice rolls for one red mana. From there, you can pay 1R anytime you could play a sorcery to get to the next level.
1R: Level 2
Whenever you roll one or more dice, target creature you control gets +2+0 and gains menace until end of turn.
At Level 2 you have the additional dice roll bonus and get to buff a creature when you roll a die. One way to think about this card is if you pay 1RR, you have an enchantment that grants an extra dice to roll and the +2+0 and menace buff when you roll. What if we go the final level?
2R: Level 3
Creatures you control have haste.
For an additional 2R Barbarian Class hits its final level and all of your creatures have haste. Of course, six mana is a bit much to ask for an enchantment that gives your creatures haste, but if you’re in the market for rolling dice, the whole package could be worth it.
