First up is a new Dragon legend in Bant with an interesting card advantage engine.

Whenever another permanent enters the battlefield under your control, look at the top card of your library. If it shares a card type with that permanent, you may reveal that card and put it into your hand.

On top of being a flying 6/6 for six, Amareth rewards you for building a deck with as many shared card types as possible. Lands will be the obvious first hit as all decks need a bunch of them, but Amareth can also work well in an enchantment or creature-heavy deck. It also combos well with cards that allow you to manipulate the top of your deck, so that you can get the most value out of Amareth’s ability. Amareth also gets the special foil etched treatment.

With monarch being one of the main mechanics in Commander Legends, blue gets a new rare enchantment that grants the monarch and then does a whole lot more if you keep the title. Take a look at Court of Cunning!

At three mana, you become the monarch and things get crazy if you can keep it.

At the beginning of your upkeep, any number of target players each mill two cards. If you’re the monarch, each of those players mill ten cards instead.

Multi-target mill and in giant chunks means games are going to end rather quickly. Notably it states any number of target players, so you can mill yourself as well if you have any graveyard synergies. Not only does that fit into a mill deck, but this kind of effect is powerful in Legacy as well,. Control decks already want the monarch and when it comes attached to game-winning effects, it becomes even more desirable. Cards like Palace Jailer already play a big part in Legacy and Court of Cunning could be even stronger in the format.
