Today’s State of the Game update announced Amonkhet Remastered will be released on MTG Arena on August 13.

Amonkhet Remastered

Amonkhet Remastered will bring 338 cards from Amonkhet and Hour of Devastation to MTG Arena available through booster packs, limited events, and crafting. The goal for the release of the set is to create an interesting and repeatable limited format while bringing support to Historic and eventually Pioneer on Arena. Amonkhet Remastered Premier Drafts run from August 13 – September 17 while Sealed events run through August 13 – August 21.

The article also contains a hint that there might be more cards than originally announced that will be previewed starting on August 10. Check out the “Where to find Amonkhet Remastered Previews” article for more information.

Along with the new set, Arena has updated how some of the mechanics work on the client. Embalm and eternalize cards will show up as “near-hand castables” much like cards with flashback or creatures on adventures. Creatures with exert will have an option when attacking to either attack like normal or be exerted. Exerted creatures will have a special outline to remind players they will not untap on the next turn.

Rotation and Renewal

When Zendikar Rising is released, Standard will have its rotation, removing Guilds of Ravnica, Ravnica Allegiance, War of the Spark, and Core Set 2020 from the format. On August 13, two new temporary play queues will come to Arena – Standard 2021 Play and Standard 2021 Ranked – that will allow players to get a glimpse of the format after rotation. The format will only include sets from Throne of Eldraine forward. The queues will be available until September 17 when Zendikar Rising joins the format and the queues go back to normal.

Players who have logged in to Arena prior to September 17 will receive a renewal gift egg that will contain items to help them kick start their collection. The previous egg when Throne of Eldraine came out contained 10 individual card rewards of rare or higher value. More information on the upcoming renewal will be released in early September.

Other updates after rotation will include new player decks. Jumpstart events will leave Arena on August 16, but the cards will still remain craftable. Lastly, the deck builder received some new quality of life improvements with more search and filter functions.
