Goldin’s 2026 Spring TCG & Manga Elite Auction produced several record-breaking sales for Pokémon cards, including the most expensive Mew card to-date, but none stood above this 1998 Japanese Promo Bronze 3rd Place 3rd Tournament Trophy Pikachu, which sold for $1,769,000.

The Bronze Pikachu promo is part of the extremely rare Trophy Card series which were only been printed twice – once for the inaugural Japanese Pokémon tournament in 1997 and again for the Lizardon Mega Battle events the following year. According to Goldin, these Trophy cards were awarded to the top finishers of these events, with this particular copy having been sourced from the 1998 Japanese Kamex Mega Battle Pokémon events.

One of just five copies graded by PSA, this particular card is the only one that graded at the “unsurpassable tier” of GEM MT 10 – MBA Gold Diamond. The next closest copy graded by PSA only received an NM-MT 8.

The auction for this incredible card closed with a final bid of $1,450,000, with the buyer’s premium pushing the total to a staggering $1,769,000, setting the record for all-time highest public sale for any Trophy Pikachu card.
