New Mechanics

Power-up

Power-up is a new activated ability that can only be used once. The cost of each power-up ability is reduced

Plan

Plan cards are a new enchantment sub-type that sacrifice when reaching a designated number of plan counters and trigger a powerful ability.

Teamwork

Teamwork is another new mechanic that is an additional cost, allowing you to tap any number of creatures you control with total power equal to Teamwork X or more in order to utilize both modes of the spell.

Returning Mechanics

Double-faced Cards

Double-faced cards return in Marvel Super Heroes. These cards can be cast as either side, and if cast for the front side, they can later be transformed by paying the activated cost. Of note, once flipped to the backside, the card cannot transform back.

Draft Archetypes

Marvel Super Heroes will feature 10 color pairs for Limited. You can check out the set’s Limited sign post uncommons below.

Simic

As is tradition, Simic makes use of +1/+1 counters as its main design for Limited.

Selesnya

Selesnya will lean into a Hero synergy theme as well as anthem effects and go-wide token strategies.

Orzhov

Orzhov dusts off the “attacks alone” theme, rewarding players for calculated attacks with a single creature with powerful payoffs.

Azorius

Azorius will entertain a more methodical theme involving tap abilities and the teamwork mechanic.

Gruul

Gruul is all about ramp and power-up synergies. Put lands in play, cast big things!

Izzet

Following a more traditional theme, Izzet will utilize artifact synergies.

Dimir

Dimir’s main archetype will involve drawing cards, but more specifically getting additional value from drawing your second card in a turn.

Golgari

Golgari maintains a graveyard theme, with cards caring about there being two or more creature cards in your graveyard.

Boros

Boros takes a few different angles, including equipment and Hero themes and more.

Rakdos

Rakdos will employ a “Villians matter” theme.
