Joseph Karani won the second Canadian Regional Championship in Calgary on Sunday with Rakdos Midrange.

Karani went 11-2-1 in the Swiss to enter the elimination rounds at the No. 2 seed of the 263-person event. He took down Cameron Sweetnam on Abzan Parhelion in the quarterfinals, setting up a semifinal Rakdos Midrange mirror match against Daniel Fournier.

Karani defeated the only other Rakdos player in the Top 8 to advance to the finals, where he beat Michael Knie on Abzan Parhelion to lock up a Worlds invite and the $3,000 first-place prize. All Top 8 players earned invites to the Pro Tour along with cash and a promo Teferi, Hero of Dominaria.
