Official marketing materials for Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit™ have confirmed the set will include a new series of Welcome Decks.
While Welcome Decks have become a common inclusion in the product lineup for Magic sets in recent years, they have been curiously absent in the marketing for Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit™.
Despite only being a few months out from the set’s August release, neither the recent Preview Panel at MagicCon: Las Vegas nor the official WPN product page mentions the decks, which has lead many to assume the set simply wouldn’t have any.
After digging a bit deeper however, one of the downloadable marketing asset folders on the set’s WPN page was found to have a “Product Family Shot,” which yielded a first look at the five Welcome Decks.
While the full decklists have yet to be revealed, the description from the WPN Marketing Kit states that each Welcome Deck is designed to be the perfect introduction for new players and includes a 40-card, single-color deck, themed around deck’s face card and is ready-to-play out of the box.
Welcome Decks can be purchased at local WPN game stores and will be available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese. Pricing information is unavailable at this time.
All five Welcome Decks will release alongside Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit™ on August 14.
