One battle will be in each Set and Draft Booster

More information on the new battle card type coming to Magic: The Gathering in March of the Machine was revealed in a Wizards of the Coast (WotC) email yesterday.

The speculation started flowing after the reminder text on Atraxa, Grand Unifier from Phyrexia: All Will Be One listed battle as a card type. Mark Rosewater, the head designer for MTG, later confirmed that it will, in fact, be a new card type.

Now we know that each Set Booster and Draft Booster of March of the Machine will have a battle in it and they will be double-faced cards. This is the first confirmed information on the battle card type. We also know that each Set Booster and Draft Booster will also have a Multiverse Legend card from a bonus sheet similar to the Mystical Archive cards from Strixhaven: School of Mages and the retro-frame artifacts from The Brothers’ War.

Now that we know battles will be double-faced cards, how do you think they will function and impact games? Let us know what you think in the comments on Facebook and Twitter.

March of the Machine is scheduled to release on April 21.
