All Cards On MTG Arena To Be Legal In New Digital Format

Timeless will allow players to use any card on the client in decks

A new format is coming to MTG Arena where players can use any cards on the client, including the upcoming fetch lands from Khans of Tarkir.

Timeless is a Constructed format arriving on December 12 that permits any card on MTG Arena to be played. Whether the cards come from bonus sheets like the Mystical Archive from Strixhaven: School of Mages, Enchanting Tales from Wilds of Eldraine, or cards from upcoming sets like Modern Horizons 3, players can use them all. The format will offer ranked and unranked queues in Best-of-One and Best-of-Three.

Timeless will be nonrotating and use the printed version of all cards that exist in tabletop. So, cards like Dragon’s Rage Channeler and The One Ring will play like the corresponding paper versions, unlike in Historic. However, all digital-only cards will also be legal in Timeless and use whatever the most recent version of the card is. For example, the recently nerfed version of Crucias, Titan of the Waves. Timeless will also be the place to play the fetch lands coming in Khans of Tarkir next week, as they will be banned in Historic.

As all cards on MTG Arena will be legal, Timeless will use a restricted list similar to Vintage. Cards on the restricted list are limited to a single copy in a deck (whether in the main deck or sideboard). The restricted list for Timeless will start with out three cards on it:

  • Channel
  • Demonic Tutor
  • Tibalt’s Trickery

To celebrate the release of Timeless on MTG Arena, all players will receive a copy of Timeless Dragon in their inbox on December 12.
