Arthur Trehet won the fourth Flesh and Blood Pro Tour with Dromai, Ash Artist on Sunday in Los Angeles.
Trehet, of France, maneuvered his way through the single-elimination Top 8 bracket on Sunday where eight different countries were represented. Trehet made the top cut as the No. 7 seed after 14 rounds of Swiss, going 7-0-1 in Classic Constructed and 4-2 in Heavy Hitters Draft. Trehet defeated Peter Ward and Joel Repta, both on Kayo, Armed and Dangerous, in the quarterfinals and semifinals to reach the final match of the tournament. Maximilian Klein, in his second straight Pro Tour Top 8, waited in the finals on Dorinthea Ironsong.
The championship match went down to the wire, with Klein presenting lethal damage time after time as Trehet had a ticking timebomb in the form of Burn Them All in the arena. With no other options on the penultimate turn, Trehet had to use a Sink Below from arsenal and find the last remaining copy of Sigil of Solace to stay afloat against a flurry of attacks. The Sigil was on top of his deck, allowing Trehet to get one final attack with a dragon to trigger Burn Them All for the final point of arcane damage to claim the title of Pro Tour champion. The final game was called “the greatest game in Flesh and Blood history,” by commentator and senior game designer Bryan Gottlieb.
Trehet becomes the fourth Pro Tour champion in Flesh and Blood history and the first French champion, joining Pablo Pintor of Spain, Matthew Foulkes of the United Kingdom, and Michael Feng of the United States. His win with Dromai brings the Draconic Illusionist to 996 Living Legend points, so the next Skirmish or ProQuest win for the hero will retire the fan-favorite hero from the Classic Constructed format. Trehet walks away with the trophy, $50,000, a Pro Tour Dromai, Ash Artist prize card, a gold foil legendary black envelope, and a PTI.
The Top 8 decklists from Pro Tour: Los Angeles can be found on the Flesh and Blood decklists page. The Top 8 heroes consisted of four copies of Kayo — the most played hero in the 388-person event, two copies of Dorinthea, the breakout deck of the tournament, and singleton copies of Kano, Dracai of Aether, and Trehet’s Dromai. The full Classic Constructed metagame breakdown can be seen below.
