Daily Digest: Going Against The Hive Mind

With no new cards banned in Modern as of the last announcement, GerryT digs up an alternative look at how aggro you can go with Primeval Titan and Amulet of Vigor.

I found this decklist while going through my old notepad files and it’s a good one. Since nothing was banned in Modern during the recent announcement, we’re free to put Primeval Titans into play for another three months at least!

With two Amulet of Vigors, you can actually deal the full twenty with Primeval Titan, but with a single Amulet you can deal eight and put a Tolaria West into your hand. What if, instead of capitalizing on our best draws we maximized what happened on our good draws?

With the first Primeval Titan trigger, you can get Slayers’ Stronghold and Boros Garrison, untap them, Stronghold the Primeval Titan, and bounce the Slayers’ Stronghold. On your attack trigger, you can search for Teetering Peaks and Spinerock Knoll, hopefully find something like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn or another Primeval Titan, and activate it post-combat.

Seven is a low number of Karoos, so the deck could probably use some tuning. Despite being three colors, I think we could use the Gemstone Mines and other rainbow lands in the normal Amulet Bloom deck.
