Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Caleb Durward, check out a new twist on an old favorite coming in Modern Horizons 2 — Ignoble Hierarch!
Noble Hierarch has been a staple of Modern, powering up decks like Infect and various other creature-combo decks like Birthing Pod, Abzan Company, and Devoted Devastation. Now it’s back, but with a slightly different name and the ability to produce red and black mana in addition to green instead of blue and white.
Ignoble Hierarch is notably a Goblin Shaman, allowing it to port into tribal decks of both types while being a great fit for Jund Midrange, Gruul Land Destruction, and many other Jund-colored decks. Of course, it can also pair up with Noble Hierarch and provide a redundant number of mana accelerators with even more exalted triggers (something a Sultai or Golgari Infect deck could utilize).
So what do you think of Ignoble Hierarch? Will it be the missing piece for Elementals or find a home somewhere else? Let us know in the comments!
