Weekly MTG’s Blake Rasmussen and Steve Sunu were joined by Megan O’Malley, of the MTG Arena team, to discuss the introduction of Arena to mobile, preview a new uncommon from Kaldheim, and cover all of the day’s previews.
As the trio recapped everything from the Kaldheim launch stream, they showed off all ten of the snow basics, including the new snow frame.
After that, they put up the art and styles for all three versions of Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider. O’Malley mentioned that the modal DFCs will continue to function the same way on Arena and that all the styles shown off today will eventually be available on Arena.
Then it was preview time for Weekly MTG. They got to unveil a new sorcery, Glimpse of the Cosmos.
The new take on Anticipate is a sorcery for two mana, but has a flashback-esque ability where you can play it again from your graveyard for a single blue mana if you control a Giant. Izzet appears to be focused around Giants with the preview of Invasion of the Giants yesterday.
Finally, the trio talked about Arena and its first steps toward appearing on mobile. After maintenance on January 28, the early access event for Android users will begin as the game will be able to be downloaded from the Google Play store. Arena on mobile will start on Android only, requiring a newer model from roughly the past two years. Mobile play will include cross-platform support and will be missing some minor features, mostly social in nature like the friends list.
According to the article from Wizards of the Coast (WotC), mobile support will be coming later this year for IOS and all Android models. Check the article itself for a recommend specs list and 32 devices fit to play Arena. More information will be coming in the January state of the game article.
