For the first time since 2023, a new Heroes of the Realm Magic: The Gathering card has surfaced! Check out Mr. Monopoly, On the Go.
Shared to LinkedIn by Dave Moccia, a Senior Creative Designer at Hasbro, the unique card was awarded in recognition of “…projects with a major impact on the business…” which in Moccia’s case, pertained to their efforts on the Monopoly GO! mobile game, in collaboration with Wizards of the Coast (WotC). For those unfamiliar, Heroes of the Realm are commemorative cards awarded to WotC staff as a way to honor outstanding individual and/or team performances. Each card is custom designed, with unique artwork and the honoree’s name printed on the bottom right, and while they look and play like normal Magic cards on the front, the back is unique, making them off-limits for use in sanctioned Magic events.
A tradition that began back in 2016, Heroes of the Realm cards quietly stopped surfacing following the 2022-2023 print run, but appear to be back-in-action with the 2025-2026 cycle, lead by Mr. Monopoly himself.
