Peter Husisian won the Regional Championship at SCG CON Portland with Amulet Titan on Sunday.

A multi-year veteran of playing Amulet Titan, Husisian got the pleasure of piloting his favorite Modern deck to a Regional Championship title while showing off what the deck can do with the latest piece of tech — Green Sun’s Zenith after its recent unbanning. In a Top 32 littered with 16 copies of Grinding Breach, Husisian rose above the field of 1,039 players as the No. 1 seed in the Top 8 with a record of 12-1-2 in the Swiss.

The single-elimination Top 8 bracket almost played out to chalk with just Gabriel Nicholas breaking serve in the quarterfinals. Husisian defeated Pieter Tubergen on Grinding Breach in the quarterfinals and Nicholas on Boros Energy in the semis to meet Jackson Knorr in the finals. A final Grinding Breach matchup stood in the way of Husisian taking home the trophy — and the final went the full three games.

The pair traded the first two games, both working through multiple mulligans, before both players settled on working hands in the decider (seven cards for Husisian and six for Knorr). Husisian accelerated out a Dryad Arbor and an early Collector Ouphe to keep Knorr off balance while creeping closer to a game-ending Primeval Titan thanks to a clutch copy of Spelunking. Knorr didn’t have the necessary interaction, so Husisian flooded the battlefield with land and a combo of Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle and Dryad of the Ilysian Grove to close out the match and tournament.
Husisian was one of 56 players on Amulet Titan in the field, which was dominated by Breach decks and Energy decks that totaled up to close to 40 percent of the meta. Check out the Day 1 metagame breakdown below.

Day 2 consisted of 239 players that reached 18 match points on Day 1. See how the archetypes converted below.
