Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC), take a look at the new common, dual land cycle in Jumpstart – Thriving lands!
Thriving lands tap for either the color that matches the pack’s primary color, or for any chosen color, essentially providing reliable fixing regardless of which two Jumpstart packs are combined.
According to WotC, Thriving lands were created for Jumpstart when designers felt the set needed “a bit more mana fixing so you could hit double-mana costs and your two colors easily…”, but seeing as packs are able to combine with one another in many ways, “traditional dual lands (e.g. Meandering River) wouldn’t generally be very helpful.”
Outside of Jumpstart, these lands can be utilized well in Commander, as they all have different names, meaning players can include one of each as needed, and can choose which additional color they want to tap for on the fly.
