Due to rising concerns over the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has announced a series of changes to the Magic competitive season and event schedule.
A summary of the changes can be found below:
- The Players Tour Finals in Houston are canceled, invites will be shifted.
- Upcoming regional Players Tour events will be rescheduled and relocated.
- Adding an online regional Players Tour event option for players who are not able to or choose not to attend an in-person regional Players Tour event.
- Mythic Invitational originally scheduled for May is canceled.
- Travel reimbursement will be provieded to qualified players with non-refundable, non-transferrable flights to the impacted Players Tour, Players Tour Finals, and Mythic Invitational events. All invited players will receive an email next week with details on how to apply.
In addition to these changes, WotC also emphasized that they intend to continue monitoring the situation and “…may need to make additional changes to the schedule or events based on the recommendations of government and health organizations.”
