Weekly MTG Previews New Black Lotus From Commander Legends

Jeweled Lotus introduces a Black Lotus variant for Commanders.

Blake Rasmussen and Steve Sunu previewed four reprints from Commander Legends and what could be the headlining card of the set — Jeweled Lotus!

While the two led off the show with four reprints, the brand new mythic rare Jeweled Lotus stole the show. Check out the latest variant on Black Lotus!

T: Sacrifice Jeweled Lotus: Add three mana of any one color. Spend this mana only to cast your commander.

Jeweled Lotus gives Commander players the rush of playing with the original Black Lotus. Notably it doesn’t exile on use so it can be returned to the battlefield so you can play your commander later on through its additional casting cost, and it is not legendary, so it can be copied. It also only produces a single color of mana, so it encourages mono-colored commanders and more expensive commanders to be used.

This chase mythic features incredible art from Alayna Danner and also gets the extended art showcase treatment.

Rasmussen and Sunu also previewed the reprints of Mulldrifter, Scroll Rack, Staff of Domination, and Sky Diamond. The first three all received showcase treatment, while Sky Diamond is available in foil for just the second time. Mulldrifter will only show up in a Commander precon for the set, while the other three will all be available in booster packs.

What do you think of Jeweled Lotus? Is it too good or just right? Will you include it in all of your decks?
