MTG Japan has announced two new localized promo cards to accompany its Planeswalker Friendly Match (PWFM) program in the first quarter of 2025. Both promos feature Japanese artists’ anime-inspired reimaginings of Outlaws of Thunder Junction cards.
Aven Interrupter is the participation promo for PWFM, which allows players to enjoy Standard in a non-ranked, deliberately casual environment. The promo features art by TAPIOCA, who has previously illustrated variant cards for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty and March of the Machine: The Aftermath.
Jace Reawakened is the winner’s promo for PWFM, but not for the Standard matches themselves. Instead, it goes to the victor of the janken (rock-paper-scissors) tournament held immediately after the Standard rounds! The promo features art by Hozan Shinomaru, who illustrated a Japanese-exclusive version of Ashiok, Dream Render from War of the Spark.
The promos will be available at PWFM events in Japan from January 1 to March 31, 2025.
