First up is Assemble from Parts.

This instant gives a creature in your graveyard a reanimation cost, though it comes with the twist of shuffling the card back into your library and giving you a 4/4 Zombie token with the rest of its abilities and types.

Break Expectations is the first of two previews with the draft from its spellbook mechanic.

Break Expectations does exactly that, by being a discard spell that can lead to your opponent drafting a card from its spellbook. All the options are artifacts and most require a specific archetype in order to be useful. The spell does say target player, so you can target yourself with it if you really need a certain tool for the job.

Break Expectations’s spellbook contains:

  • Colossal Plow
  • Millstone
  • Whirlermaker
  • Magistrate’s Scepter
  • Replicating Ring
  • Raiders’ Karve
  • Weapon Rack
  • Relic Amulet
  • Orazca Relic
  • Fifty Feet of Rope
  • Pyre of Heroes
  • Treasure Chest
  • Leather Armor
  • Spiked Pit Trap
  • Gingerbrute

Citystalker Connoisseur is a Vampire loaded with value.

While you pay four mana for a 3/3 with deathtouch, you also make your opponent discard the most expensive card in their hand and create a Blood token for you to use when ready.

Cursebound Witch is the other draft from its spellbook card in black.

This one-mana 1/2 Human Warlock is just asking to be sacrifice fodder. When it dies, you get to draft a witch themed card or a curse.

Cursebound Witch’s spellbook contains:

  • Witch’s Cauldron
  • Witch’s Vengeance
  • Witch’s Oven
  • Witch’s Cottage
  • Witch’s Familiar
  • Curse of Leeches
  • Cauldron Familiar
  • Black Cat
  • Sorcerer’s Broom
  • Bloodhunter Bat
  • Unwilling Ingredient
  • Expanded Anatomy
  • Cruel Reality
  • Torment of Scarabs
  • Trespasser’s Curse

Gutmorn, Pactbound Servant is a spicy mythic rare Demon.

A 1/3 flyer with deathtouch that also acts as a discard outlet is nice, but it also generates extra material for both players. Be careful with what you discard, as your opponent gets to conjure a copy of it and use any color of mana to play it.

Predatory Sludge is oozing with flavor.

This 3/3 Ooze with menace gets to mark a permanent when it enters the battlefield and rewards you with another copy of it when that permanent goes to the graveyard.

Puppet Raiser is a Birthing Pod inspired mythic rare.

Start dreaming up your creature-combo chains, as Puppet Raiser lets you turn your dead creatures into tutorable bullets as long as they are one mana more than the creature exiled with it.

Sanguine Brushstroke is a great payoff for decks that can create a lot of Blood tokens.

Guaranteeing a Blood Artist is a nice tool for sacrifice heavy decks, but this enchantment also makes a Blood token and lets you drain and gain off each sacrificed Blood token.

Sap Vitality is a new take on the drain and gain theme black has used for many years.

A new removal that spell that wants you to be playing creatures looks to fit right in with Vampires and Zombies decks.

Lastly, Veteran Ghoulcaller is an aggressive creature that plays well with raising the dead.

A 2/1 with menace can provide a decent clock and it can provide card advantage if you’re actively bringing cards back to your hand from the graveyard.
