The SCG Tour Online continues to grow, and this weekend will be its biggest to date! On Saturday, thousands of Magic: the Gathering fans from around the world will tune into twitch.tv/starcitygames to see who will take down the final SCG Tour Online 2020 Season One Championship Qualifier! Then on Sunday, thousands more will join us at twitch.tv/starcitygames to see who will win the SCG Tour Online 2020 Season One Championship!
But if you weren’t able to qualify for those events, you’ll have an opportunity to do more than just watch those who did. Season Two of the 2020 SCG Tour Online kicks off this Saturday… and Season Two’s Challenge events will offer you a chance to earn your seat in a Season Two Championship Qualifier and/or the Season Two Championship… plus an opportunity to begin your journey to Wizards of the Coast’s (WotC) recently announced Zendikar Rising Championship!
Events
For its second season, the SCG Tour Online will continue to consist of three different event types:
Challenges
Challenges are open events that award various amounts of SCG Online Points to all competitors, plus Star City Games store credit to top finishers. We typically offer six (6) Challenge events on each day within a Challenge Period as follows:
- 10AM ET Standard Challenge
- 12 Noon ET Standard Challenge
- 2PM ET Standard Challenge
- 6PM ET Standard Challenge
- 8PM ET Standard Challenge
- 10PM ET Standard Challenge
Structure: Four (4) rounds of Swiss
Entry: $20 USD
Prizes:
- 4-0: 10 SCG Online Points, $50 Star City Games store credit
- 3-1: 4 SCG Online Points, $20 Star City Games store credit
- Participation: Two (2) SCG Tour Online Points
Ten (10) SCG Tour Online Points are needed to participate in the next SCG Tour Online Championship Qualifier.
Championship Qualifiers
Championship Qualifiers are invitation-only events that award various amounts of SCG Online Points to all participants, plus a total of $10,000 USD in prizes to top finishers. Players finishing with eighteen (18) or more match points in an SCG Tour Online Season Two Championship Qualifier will also receive an invitation to participate in WotC’s next Zendikar Rising Qualifier Weekend. One hundred fifty (150) SCG Tour Online Points are needed to participate in the next SCG Tour Online Championship.
Structure: Swiss rounds based on number of competitors followed by a single-elimination Top 8
Entry: Free, Invitation only. Ten (10) SCG Online Points must have been earned in the previous Challenge Period to participate in the current SCG Tour Online Championship Qualifier. Although the qualifying period for each SCG Tour Online Championship Qualifier is typically the previous Saturday through Friday, the length of each qualifying period may vary depending on a variety of factors.
Prizes: $10,000 USD (Total)
- 1st: $2,000 USD, 150 SCG Online Points
- 2nd: $1,000 USD, 150 SCG Online Points
- Top 4: $700 USD, 150 SCG Online Points
- Top 8: $500 USD, 100 SCG Online Points
- Top 16: $250 USD, 50 SCG Online Points
- Top 32: $100 USD, 30 SCG Online Points
- Participation: 10 SCG Online Points

Seasonal Championships
Seasonal Championships are invitation-only events that award a total of $25,000 USD in prizes. All players who finish with the same number of match points as the 32nd place finisher or higher will receive an invitation to participate in WotC’s next Zendikar Rising Qualifier Weekend. The top four (4) finishers in the SCG Tour Online 2020 Season Two Seasonal Championship will receive an invitation to participate in WotC’s recently announced Zendikar Rising Championship.
Structure: Swiss rounds based on number of competitors followed by a single-elimination Top 8
Entry: Free, Invitation only. One hundred fifty (150) SCG Online Points must have been earned within the current Season to participate in that Season’s SCG Tour Online Seasonal Championship.
Prizes: $25,000 USD (Total)
- 1st: $5,000 USD, Invitation to participate in 2020’s Zendikar Rising Championship
- 2nd: $2,000 USD, Invitation to participate in 2020’s Zendikar Rising Championship
- Top 4: $1,400 USD, Invitation to participate in 2020’s Zendikar Rising Championship
- Top 8: $1,000 USD
- Top 16: $600 USD
- Top 32: $400 USD
All players who finish with the same number of match points as the 32nd place finisher or higher will receive an invitation to participate in WotC’s next Zendikar Rising Qualifier Weekend.
