Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Channel Fireball, check out the Selesnya companion from Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths – Kaheera, the Orphanguard!
This three-mana 3/2 legendary Cat Beast plays very well alongside fellow Cats and Beasts, but also allied Nightmares, Dinosaurs, and Elementals. Let’s scratch the surface on Kaheera.
Companion – Each creature card in your starting deck is a Cat, Elemental, Nightmare, Dinosaur, or Beast card. (If this card is your chosen companion, you may cast it once from outside the game.)
Kaheera plays perfectly in an aggressive tribal deck that doesn’t have to play all creatures. The companion clause is only directed at creatures, so feel free to play as many non-creatures as you want and get the bonus. Kaheera also is one of the companions that does well with multiple copies in the maindeck, adding to the density of Cats and Beasts, while helping out in other ways as well.
Each other creature you control that’s a Cat, Elemental, Nightmare, Dinosaur, or Beast gets +1+1 and vigilance.
On top of already having vigilance, Kaheera gives it to all your creatures if it’s your companion, as well as buffs them. Kaheera works great alongside the other Selesnya rare from Ikoria, Frondland Felidar, and Standard tribal matches like Questing Beast, Lovestruck Beast, Bronzehide Lion, Cavaliers, Elementals from Nissa, Who Shakes the World, Thrashing Brontodon, and Shifting Ceratops.
