Rosewater Address Secret Lair X Walking Dead Concerns

Magic Head Designer, Mark Rosewater, addresses community concerns and requests feedback.

Magic: The Gathering Head Designer, Mark Rosewater, took to his Blogatog yesterday to address the community’s concerns surrounding the printing of cards exclusive to Secret Lair and to request feedback from players regarding crossovers with other IPs (intellectual properties).

According to Rosewater, the versions of the cards being printed in the Secret Lair X Walking Dead Drop are exclusive to that product, but should the need arise, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) is able to reprint the “Magic Version” of each card (“same card mechanically, but with a Magic name and art”) to meet that demand.

While Rosewater’s response helps to alleviate some concerns about these cards becoming too popular and thus nearly impossible to acquire due to a limited print run (IE Nexus of Fate), others pointed out that WotC is merely on standby, with no telling how long printing would take should the scenario above actually occur.

Requesting Feedback

Recently, WotC started collaborating with third-party IP (Godzilla, Walking Dead, etc.) to create unique, themed cards, aimed at reaching fans and collectors outside the Magic multiverse.

With several crossovers under their belt this year, Rosewater is now requesting feedback from the Magic community regarding the future of these products.
