Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and the /r/MagicArena Subreddit, check out this powerful legendary Minotaur Warrior from Zendikar Rising — Moraug, Fury of Akoum!
WotC is no stranger to printing powerful Minotaurs, however in the past, they have often been designed with tribal synergy in mind. Well, Moraug doesn’t subscribe to that channel. This massive six-mana 6/6 wants to help your red deck close out games —Minotaur tribal or not.
While this big guy might be a little too slow for formats where fetchlands are legal, Standard, Historic, and even Pioneer could become great fits in decks looking to capitalize on the powerful Landfall ability.
In these formats, cards such as Fabled Passage, Field of Ruin, and Ghost Quarter are all reasonable options for triggering Landfall on the same turn where Moraug enters the battlefield. If you’re looking at utilizing Moraug past the turn in which it is cast, assuming it survives, the potential for doing absurd things grows exponentially (looking at you, Scapeshift).
