Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Luis Scott-Vargas, check out a reanimating Rakdos Saga from Kaldheim — Kardur’s Vicious Return!
The Rakdos Saga doesn’t play into its tribe like some of the previously previewed enchantments do, but it does three very Rakdos things. Let’s look at the chapters.
The first chapter plays along with one of red and black’s main themes, sacrificing your own creatures for fun and profit. Whether you’re sacrificing a creature like Archfiend’s Vessel or a creature with a dies trigger, deal three damage to any target and set up your graveyard for later. Even if you don’t have a creature to get rid of or a need to deal three damage, you can ignore the first chapter and plan on leveraging the later chapters.
Strip away a resource away from your opponent’s hand while pitching a giant creature to return later or a card with escape, like Kroxa, Titan of Death’s Hunger.
The big payoff. Maybe you sacrificed a creature with an important enters the battlefield trigger earlier or ditched a massive creature to the second chapter? Nevertheless, the third chapter puts the return in Kardur’s Vicious Return! Not only do you bring a creature back, but it has haste and a +1+1 counter to get straight to causing havoc.
What do you think of Kardur’s Vicious Return? What do you want to reanimate most with it?
Kaldheim is currently scheduled to release on February 5. You can check out our official Kaldheim Preview Gallery here.
