Ragavan Gets Own Card In Modern Horizons 2

This red one-drop isn’t monkeying around.

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Amy the Amazonian, check out an incredible new one-drop coming in Modern Horizons 2 — Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer!

Ragavan made its debut in Aether Revolt, but only as a token that Kari Zev, Skyship Raider created. Now the monkey doesn’t have to share the spotlight with anyone. As a 2/1 for one, Ragavan catches the eye before reading any more of the card.

Whenever Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer deals combat damage to a player, create a Treasure token and exile the top card of that player’s library. Until end of turn, you may cast that card.

Not only do you get a 2/1 for one red mana, but when Ragavan hits the enemy player you get a Treasure token and the chance to play a card from your opponent’s library. While you might not be able to cast that card, as it goes away at the end of the turn, you keep the Treasure to help you play your future spells. But somehow, that’s not all this monkey brings to the table.

Dash 1R

Dash first showed up in Fate Reforged and Dragons of Tarkir along with a single card, Treetop Ambusher, from Modern Horizons. The mechanic returns once again, making Ragavan play like its original token form Kari Zev, but adding the value Treasure and card exile effect. On top of those bonuses, it allows your late-game copies of Ragavan to effectively have haste.

So what do you think of Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer? Is this the best red one-drop ever printed? Is it completely overrated? Let us know in the comments!
