Magecraft — Whenever you cast or copy an instant or sorcery spell, each opponent loses 2 life and you gain 2 life.
Embracing her new role, Professor Onyx also introduces a new mechanic — Magecraft! Now whenever you cast or copy your spells, you get a nice little bonus in return.
Now, on to her abilities.
+1: You lose 1 life. Look at the top three cards of your library. Put one of them into your hand and the rest into your graveyard.
Gain loyalty, lose a life, fill your graveyard, and get a card. Now that’s a strong +1. If Professor Onyx is cast onto a clear battlefield, enjoy the fast-track to value town.
-3: Each opponent sacrifices a creature with the greatest power among creatures that player controls.
Nice big creature you have there. Would be a shame if something… happened to it. Whether you’re playing a single or multiplayer game, Professor Onyx’s -3 ability is a great way to take care of big threats on the battlefield.
-8: Each opponent may discard a card. If they don’t, they lose 3 life. Repeat this process six more times.
Nice hand you have there… well, you know where this is going. If your opponent(s) have a hand, they likely won’t after you activate this ultimate ability. And if they don’t have a hand, well then it’s likely lights out.
