In a rare move by Wizards of the Coast (WotC), the company addressed the ongoing leaks of many Magic: The Gathering cards from the upcoming Modern Horizons 3 set.

Blake Rasmussen responded to the leaks and one big rumor on today’s Weekly MTG stream while also previewing official versions of some of the leaked cards in an article on Daily MTG.

While many of the leaks from Modern Horizons 3 were real cards, Rasmussen pointed out that one of the more confusing cards found in one of images of “leaks” was false. Brainstorm, a pillar of the Legacy format and so powerful it is restricted in Vintage, was spotted between cards, notably not showing the set symbol on the card. Rasmussen made sure to clarify that Brainstorm was not in Modern Horizons 3 or the Commander Decks.

“There are a number of reason that we don’t like leaks, but among them is that we don’t know the motivation of the leaker. This is an example of where a leaker can ruin the experience for everyone,” Rasmussen said. “This is normally why we don’t say anything about false rumors, or any rumors, typically. But Brainstorm was a big enough deal that we felt like we needed to say something.”

Rasmussen also said that any cards not in the article (other than Brainstorm) will not be confirmed or denied.

While official preview season for Modern Horizons 3 begins on May 21, check out the handful of cards confirmed to be in the main set and Commander preconstructed decks.
